Maker made, people loved
Let's face it, we're spoiled. In an age where we complain if we don't get our stuff delivered in two days for free, it's hard to come by things that are actually worth it, let alone made by someone who really cares.
When we think of 'handmade' some of us might think of Grandma's crocheted sweater or Dad's super cool playground that makes all the neighbor kids jealous. As great as those things are, reality is it's always weird to sit in another Grandma's kitchen. So some of us 'makers' have a fine line to walk when it comes to production quality stuff that also has the love and attention that someone would only put in for their family or friends.
Being a 'maker' is not anywhere near the fast-track to riches. What it is though, is a way to build a brand of yourself. You may not make the perfect widget or thingamajig but the moment you sell just one to a random customer, your whole world changes. How cool is it that someone who isn't obligated to like your stuff like family or friends, actually wants what you have to offer!
While some of us would love to take it farther than our mediocre social media following and create a viral brand of amazing things, some are perfectly content keeping things a little closer to home. Hammock Dave is still digging in to where that place is. Meanwhile, the core of what we do revolves around quality products and a quality lifestyle. While we may offer up some other products for the simple sake of building up some business, where it starts will never be forgotten.
